Originally created by the Dwarves to serve as laborers in the most dangerous parts of their vast mine networks, the Layodrin were soon produced on such a scale as to become the primary workers in Dwarven society. Their great strength and obedience were exploited for ages before the Denier Rebellion. Historians of all races pin the origin of Layodrin sentience sometime shortly after the creation of the Dragon Tomb Crater. The exact reasons why these events coincide is not entirely understood, but many believe it to be due to the large expulsion of arcane energies that caused the crater to begin with.
